Our Matrix C02 laser is ablative - meaning it actually removes 35-80 percent of the top layer of skin, depending on the settings we design for you.
This is very important to understand as you choose the facility to perform your procedure, as some laser centers promote non-ablative fractional procedures, which are simply not capable of achieving the results seen in these pictures.
Everyone is different and results will vary, but you will be advised at your consultation, what to realistically expect from Fractional, based upon your starting point, objectives and health, and your ongoing participation in nutrition, vitamin, and aftercare protocols.
Immediate Results:
Ablative Fractional Resurfacing puts a heat-signature at the dermis level and evaporates the water, thus you may feel tightening of your skin before you even leave our office.
At two weeks:
At this point, the upper layer of skin, having been "sanded down", may look dramatically smoother. Your texture may be greatly improved, and discolorations reduced or fully removed.
At four weeks (and for up to 6 months):
Your body should be producing increased collagen and elastin, re-training your skin, and literally generating baby-skin to fill in the very small holes made by the laser, bringing you brand new skin every 30 days for up to 6 months.
For every micro-thermal zone, the laser targets and treats intensively, it leaves the surrounding tissue unaffected and intact. This "fractional" treatment allows the skin to heal much faster than if the entire area were treated at once, using the body's natural healing process to create new, healthier, tighter tissue, to replace skin imperfections.
What you don't see:
Replacing old skin with new, with a regular maintenance program, not only corrects the skin you have now, but can work as a preventative -- improving skin that may have been coming in saggy or discolored due to sun-damage, smoking, bad nutrition and more. In essence, stopping future damage before it has a chance to show itself.

We have developed, after many test treatments and positive outcomes, a spectacular proprietary setting for acne scarring. 3 to 6 sessions are usually required to achieve maximum reduction, however there is almost always a very satisfying level of improvement after just one treatment, and more with each successive treatment. Results shown above from 4+ treatments. All clients personally decide when they are finished (fully satisfied with the end-result), as active scarring, many times, involves healing of emotional wounds related to the scars along with the physical healing.

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
We cannot treat any of the following with laser:

Melasma

Vitiligo

Pregnant or Nursing

Lupus (or any autoimmune deficiency disease), Epilepsy Pacemaker, Diabetes, Heart Condition, AIDS, Hepatitis
Please DON'T STOP your medications without your doctor's permission . . .
. . . but just know in advance, that we cannot treat you with laser if you are:

Using Levulane, Acutane, or Metrogel. Must be off at least 6 months.

Taking Tetracycline or any prescription ending in "azole" or "cycline" Must be off at least 2 weeks.
-
Taking Celebrex Must be off at least 3 days.
-
Taking Aspirin or any blood thinner Must be off at least 1 week.
-
Using ProActiv, Glycolic Acid, Retin-A, any retinol or retinoid products, any other acids or peels Must be off at least 2 weeks.
-
Do not tan or use tanning lotions for one week before.
-
Please do not deviate from these aftercare recommendations.
POST TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
EVERY DAY:
-
Use STERILE HANDS when applying anything to your skin.
-
May use unlimited amounts of Coconut Oil.
-
Take Vitamin C.
-
Drink lots of fluid.
-
Eat your favorite healthy foods.
-
Do NOT exercise, or exert yourself. Do not clean house.
-
No pets, children, spouses, etc., near your skin please.
-
Don't go outside or get anything in or on your skin, except those listed above.
-
NO SUN EXPOSURE!
DAY 1
(Day of Treatment):
-
May experience minor discomfort or burning that typically only lasts 2-6 hours.
-
Pin-point bleeding: Using a Q-tip, dab blood away with Distilled Water or Coconut Oil. DO NOT USE TAP WATER, Do this on DAY ONE ONLY!
-
Apply light coat of Avene Cicalphate 2X. Wait at least an hour before applying any Coconut Oil (or it will be messy).
-
Apply Coconut Oil to a small area (do a test patch, if no swelling or discomfort after 30 minutes apply to the rest of treated area).
-
Use as much Coconut Oil as you like throughout the rest of your recovery.
-
Use as much Avene Spray as you like throughout the rest of recovery.
-
DO NOT take medication other than your prescribed medication.
-
Sleep elevated, if possible.
DAY 2:
(Day AFTER Treatment) Better known as "Monster Day". It's most important to NOT worry! All skin is different. You may look worse or slightly better than the client shown above.
DAY 3:
You will be same or slightly improved from Day 2, over the next few days, the scabs may become darker as healing progresses.
Somewhere between Day 3 to 10 you will experience a feel similar to "Sandpaper" on the treated skin. These are just tiny scabs that will eventually fall off ON THEIR OWN. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO EXFOLIATE TOO SOON.
DAYS 4 & 5:

Take a steamy shower.
-
Soak a textured cloth in hot water.
-
Lay cloth on skin for a few minutes, with light pressure.
-
Rinse and repeat a few times.
-
NO SCRUBBING, SCRUNCHING OR HARD PRESSURE.
DAY 6 FORWARD:
-
Add light-pressure when applying your hot-water-soaked-cloth, in your shower, to gently begin exfoliation.
-
You should start to feel smooth patches (and still some rough patches). The slow crumbling off of the remaining dead-skin may take another week.
-
You can start wearing make-up again, if you have to.
-
Use a natural soap or A gentle cleanser like Cetaphil to remove make-up as soon as possible.
-
Day 7 FORWARD:
-
25+ spf sunscreen (Aveeno Zinc suggested) for the next several months, whenever exposed to any sun. The less sun-exposure the better and definitely no boating or sunny vacations for as long as possible.

Take care of your BABY SKIN!
You may continue to be slightly red for up to a month. Red means the skin is still healing.
**Worsening red with itching may indicate a skin infection -- call for antibiotics if you do not already have them.
Do NOT exfoliate before instructed or you can irritate the skin and greatly slow your healing. WAIT, WAIT, WAIT until day 6-8 to begin exfoliating as per the instructions above.
