REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
THANK YOU FOR TAKING AN INTEREST IN PERMETIKA!
When consider adding something PERMANENT in your skin, ON YOUR FACE... it's super important to realize that there is a super fine line between just enough and too much permanent makeup. To complicate things even further, that line is different for every person! There are biological differences from person to person - as well as or own personal preferences! For these reasons, we start with a conservative approach to permanent makeup, especially eyebrows!
Before we get started, it's important to realize that to achieve the same results on every person is impossible. A few lucky clients heal with near-perfect results, the first time. These are the ones who are spared the dreaded stamped on looking brows or possibly even from TATTOO REMOVAL which is painful, time-consuming, expensive, and completely avoidable with the Permetika Approach!
Others may retain very little pigment, requiring more sessions. Subsequent sessions will allow us to catch the color up in the areas that didn't take well on round one.
Please remember, we are inserting art (in the form of pigment) into a BIOLOGICAL SYSTEM (your skin) WHERE NOTHING IS EVER CERTAIN! Skin is a living, breathing, moving organ that is designed to protect you when a wound is created. SO IT FIGHTS THE PROCESS... by trying to push out - what it perceives as a threat, (ie: the pigment). SO WE MUST FIGHT BACK... with proper nutrition, hydration, keeping the wounds clean and moisturized - in order to retain as much of the color, as possible.
Our UNIQUE STYLE starts with a LESS IS MORE APPROACH. We start with baby steps on the first session to see how our pigment heals into your skin. Adjustments, if needed are much easier to handle on a smaller scale... then we move into a more polished until reaching a final
MY GOAL for YOU . . . is to create a fabulous experience for you and perform permanent makeup procedures that will enhance your look - to the degree you are expecting - while remaining UNDETECTABLE as a tattoo! The final outcome should mimic either NATURAL LOOKING FEATURES, WELL DEFINED MAKEUP - or BOTH! The choice is yours.
Other situations that also factor into the picture is how well a client cared for the treated area during the healing phase. For example:
-
Did you fall asleep on one brow?
-
Did you rub or pick it too much?
-
Did you ice them well enough?
-
Did you keep the area clean enough?
-
Did you shower too long?
-
Did they get too hot?
-
Did you sufficiently protect them from the sun?
-
Are you on meds?
-
Did you remember to take Arnica Montana?
-
Did you go swimming before it healed?
-
Did you use anti aging products on them?
-
Did you get a facial with steam too soon?
This list can go on and on. Since it is impossible to prove or disprove how well it was cared for, it is impossible to guarantee specific results.
I do hope this helps you to better understand why we start with a conservative approach and need you to agree to the necessary follow-up visits prior to making a decision to schedule with us.
Just a reminder to all... This information is posted on my website in various places to make sure, that most people see it:
-
I also send a reminder (upon booking) to refresh your memory about planning and caring for your procedure.
-
I send another reminder when your appointment is near.
-
Our consent form, also recaps much of this information, prior to your procedure.
-
During your procedure, I continue to verbally explain that you will need a minimum of at least one follow-up session.
-
Your aftercare paperwork is another reminder that follow-up sessions are needed.
his site. We want the best for you!
For these reasons, we offer a conservative approach to start, to AVOID the implantation of too much color. Then BUILD toward YOUR OPTIMAL GOALS in the subsequent sessions. This approach is not about getting you back in for more money. IT IS ABOUT PROTECTING YOUR FACE! Which ultimately does take more time as new layers are added to give more realistic results. This approach also does cost more, but we feel the confidence we offer is worth the investment as this approach gives most clients the confidence to know that they can expect great results, without looking like you just got your brows stamped on. We feel that most of the clients who choose us, do so for that very reason. And most are extremely satisfied. If this this weren't true, our reviews wouldn't reflect such success for the past twenty something years.
However, please know in advance, that we do not consider the first pass, the final pass, even if you're happy... we know we can make things better by layering more art in the skin to create a more natural look.
because of this approach, SOME PEOPLE will simply require MULTIPLE SESSIONS to experience the OPTIMAL RESULTS you have come to expect.
You should also know (in advance) that specific results WILL vary from person to person and cannot be guaranteed because we all have different physical, emotional and biological arrangements as well as varying EXPECTATIONS! For this reason, some people will require less work, while others
So, knowing this upfront, should give you to comfort to proceed, and to know that you MAY need to be prepared with enough patience to stick with (and trust) the process through to the end as each session creates the next layer of art which will advance us slowly toward your ultimate goals Some people will simply need more work than others. IF YOU do not see the value in playing it safe, we would prefer that you find another company/artist who believes the way you do as our ideals and goals should be in harmony.
Read more about REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS here.
IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH OUR CONSERVATIVE APPROACH, WE MAY NOT BE THE RIGHT ARTISTIC TEAM FOR YOU.
-
Permetika gives you choices in pricing and the selection of other artists. However, if you schedule with anyone other than Connie, we cannot guarantee that your desires & expectations, will align with the skill level of the artist chosen.
-
Even with a good track record on PREVIOUS clients, there are always a new set of variables that present with each NEW clients.
-
Different medications, habits and lifestyles, all factor into a successful outcome.
-
In addition to that, each client presents a different set of variables to consider. Each client has a different skin biology, different tones, textures and challenges. Some skin is extremely easy to work on while other skin is more difficult.
-
For these reasons, always request a consultation and photos of the Artist's work PRIOR to booking an appointment to make sure your style aligns with the artist of choice.
-
Your follow-up should be scheduled with the same artist, however, an alternate artist may be selected if your original artist is not available.
-
FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS should be made with the same artist if possible but can be booked with another PERMETIKA ARTIST.
-
A BOOKING FEE OF 50% IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. The remaining balance will be due at the time of your appointment.

PERMANENT MAKEUP IS NOT A HAIRCUT!
REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS are paramount!
PERFECTION does not exist!
ARTISTIC TALENT is subject to interpretation!
-
While we strive for perfection, all cosmetic procedures come with inherent risks for many reasons listed here on this site. If you do not take the time to read the links in the footer section below, you could have certain expectations that cannot be met. OR you may have fears that are not true. So please take some time to research!
-
Your skin is a biological system - NOT an inanimate canvas. It is designed to rid itself of foreign matter, which includes pigment. Yes, we put that foreign matter into your skin in the form of "art" - hoping all of it will stay. But your body doesn't know that we want it there, so it's going to do its job - and try to take the color out.
-
This means your healed results after the first visit, MAY end up TOO LIGHT, BLURRED & COLORS MAY SHIFT a little. This is why we opt for a layering approach, applying a second NEW LAYER OF ART 8-12 WEEKS LATER (just where needed). Then on subsequent follow-up sessions, when necessary.
-
This gradual application will help move you closer to beautiful, natural-looking work at a safer pace than overdoing it upfront. Our conservative approach rarely leads to the color being too dark and you'll NEVER end up with SUPERHERO BROWS here at Permetika!
-
Now there is also a chance that your color could end up being close to perfect... We just never know! But you can know that you're one of the lucky few!
PRIOR TO YOUR PROCEDURE, PLEASE HELP TO PREPARE:
The following bullets will help in planning your procedure: Just know, that we want the BEST outcome for you, which makes everything better for us as well! So the more you know, the better prepared you'll be to understand our process.
- CONSULTATIONS ARE NOT MANDATORY. But you can learn a lot by joining us for a consultation meeting. We offer Group meetings and private meetings as well.
- FOR BROWS, EYELINER, AND LIP PROCEDURES, I'm confident that any questions you may have can be answered here on this site by reading the suggested links, including our VIRTUAL CHAT feature as well as our FAQ page. The main reason you might need to meet in advance is to get an allergy test if you have very sensitive skin.
-
If you want an allergy skin test, you must schedule it a minimum of 3-5 days prior to your appointment to allow time for any potential reaction to occur. This step may help circumvent a potential allergic reaction, but is not a guarantee that a future reaction will not occur. In all the years that we've been in business, we have not had one client present a problem. However, we know it's possible since there are documented cases of allergic reactions, they are just extremely rare.
-
If you have very sensitive skin or suffer from allergic skin reactions to other products, we encourage you to schedule a complimentary test. Better safe, than sorry!
If you have very sensitive skin, we encourage you to schedule a consultation prior to your appointment.
-
Arnica Montana (pill form, not cream) helps prepare the skin for less bruising, less swelling, less bleeding, and it helps speed healing. It really works! It should be taken (as directed on the bottle) during the two weeks prior to your procedure. Continue taking for an additional week or two following your procedure. Arnica Montana is available on Amazon, at Whole Foods Market, and most nutrition stores. 30 c is a good strength.
-
Booking fees are required to reserve your place on our calendar. The fee is 50% OF the COST OF PROCEDURE. The remaining balance is not due until the day of your appointment. BOOKING FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE, however, if you have an emergency and cannot show up, please call us and we will do our best to get you set up on a better day.
(See Policies & Forms Page) The amount of time required to change your appointment date is based on the idea that we want to give your fill-in client as much time to prepare as you had. Please remember, that no one else can book your spot and if you cancel, we can't easily fill it because other clients need that time to prepare. So we rely on your commitment to keeping things flowing smoothly. If you cancel at the last minute, we have no way of filling your spot or making up for lost revenue. So we split the loss 50/50 in the form of a forfeited booking fee.
(See Policies & Forms Page) No Shows will forfeit their booking fee. To rebook, you will need to schedule a new visit with a new booking fee.
Prices are subject to change with or without notice.
OPTIMAL RESULTS MAY TAKE A DIFFERENT AMOUT OF TIME FOR EACH CLIENT DUE TO THE ENORMOUS DIFFERENCES IN CLIENT BIOLOGY AND PERSONAL HABITS. SOME TREATMENTS JUST TAKE BETTER ON SOME CLIENTS, AS WELL AS CERTAIN BODY PARTS MAY TAKE (THE SAME PROCEDURE) BETTER IN SOME AREAS, THAN IN OTHERS.
You should understand that pigment IN the skin, looks different than makeup ON the skin. We do our best to make it look as natural as possible and build toward your desired results. This requires a conservative start, (to protect those who hold more pigment than others. This means that MOST of you will most likely need multiple procedures.
We hope this (and other) understanding will help to foster a great relationship where we can build on future ideas together.
In order to gain a specific understanding of your procedure, you should (at least) read the pages outlined on this page. Keep in mind throughout the learning process that while we do have a great track record, YOUR comprehension and
cooperation also plays a large role in your overall happiness.
REGARDING EYELINER PROCEDURES:
-
Don't wear contact lenses to your session.
-
Remove Lash Extension at least 3-5 days prior to having eyeliner done to avoid extreme sensitivity to the area.
REGARDING LIP PROCEDURES:
-
If you are prone to fever blisters, START TAKING YOUR ANTI-VIRAL MEDICATION PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT as directed by your physician.
REGARDING OLD/BAD PERMANENT MAKEUP:
You may or may not be a candidate. Please schedule a consultation in advance to allow us to evaluate the color and condition of the skin.
HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT FROM SESSION TO SESSION:
Session #1
This is where I lay the foundation. I use a few colors to start and do so sparingly. Once healed, we assess and adjust according to your personal preferences and how well the color healed in your skin. I start light because there are few things more hideous than brows that are too thick or too dark. This first pass is done deliberately on the conservative side so that NO ONE ends up with a color that is too dark. Please remember, we are putting artwork into your SKIN, so when color is applied lightly, some people will end up with a color that is patchy and much too light. If your first session loses a lot of color, it may appear patchy, uneven, or with unnatural-looking hues. Please consider this normal and just be sure to book your follow-up appointment, as this is not a mistake on our part as we cannot control what your skin retains. We will catch it up on your follow-up visit. Until then, please apply makeup to balance out the color.
Please remember, that missing color stems from the fact that I am putting art into your SKIN. And the skin is a living, breathing, moving organ that is designed to protect you when a wound is created. SO IT FIGHTS... by trying to push what it perceives as a threat, (this foreign body called: Pigment) back out of your system. AND WE MUST FIGHT BACK... to retain as much of the color, as possible and we do this with proper application & proper aftercare.
Sessions #2 and 3+
Follow-up sessions are required to balance the color and add more strokes to the missing spots....
Follow-up visits are not included in the price of the procedure.
Follow up sessions range from $200 -$500, depending on the procedure and artist chosen.
The more you know, the more prepared you'll be. I'm a seasoned artist . . . This means that I know, that in spite of experience, things can sometimes still go sideways on occasion. HOWEVER, YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A DISASTER HAPPENING IF YOU CHOOSE US TO DO YOUR WORK! The trick is knowing what adjustments are necessary to get things back on track... and I do!
In most cases, the worst-case scenario is that the color didn't hold well. If this happens, you must be mentally prepared to get back up in the saddle - and DO IT AGAIN! Most people require 2-3 sessions with my technique. However, some people may need more. Some less!
-
People often ask if they really need to plan... Some just assume that it's not that important. We feel it's best to do everything you can to achieve optimal results.
-
People who have had body art know that some tattoos heal well while others need follow-ups. This is even more true with Permanent Cosmetics. Our pigment is not applied as deep in the skin as a body tattoo, so we need to fight to keep what color we can!
-
So we hope you will take the time to learn about our process and spend a couple of weeks preparing for your procedure by starting & stopping certain products, eating well, and eliminating blood thinners (unless prescribed, then consult with your physician).
-
Start taking the Arnica Montana as recommended, if able.
-
We feel that these steps will HELP secure a MORE successful procedure than if you don't prepare at all. However, because all skin is different, we cannot guarantee a perfect outcome, as the art we apply is in YOUR SKIN, and skin is UNPREDICTABLE. The worst-case scenario would be that most of your color doesn't take. If this happens, you must be mentally prepared to get back up in the saddle - and DO IT AGAIN! Most people require 2-3 sessions with my technique. However, some people may need more. Some less!
-
IN EXTREMELY RARE CASES, the color could go too dark, even though we do perform conservatively. If this happens, we will need to assess the situation in person.
So when you schedule an appointment at PERMETIKA, it is with the understanding that you have READ, UNDERSTAND, AND AGREE with the way I perform the application. The information that I have shared throughout this website is meant to help you form realistic expectations, foster a great relationship, and avoid misunderstandings in the future. By the time you arrive for your appointment, we will have shared this information with you, in advance and on multiple levels.
The success of each procedure depends on a variety of factors such as the natural talent and skill level of the artist, the client's health, what medications they are taking, lifestyle & personal habits, and if the client fully cooperated by following the guidelines such as taking ARNICA MONTANA for two weeks prior to the appointment and by following proper care following each procedure.
How fast one heals also plays a huge role. The faster you heal, the better the color retention. The longer it takes to heal, the more time there is to lose the color. So please be patient with the process and schedule your follow-up visit for the best results!
The information on this page is an abbreviated form of this entire website. This page gives you a bird's eye view at a glance. Please continue reading for more detail and thank you in advance, for understanding and for taking the time to read, learn, and apply the principles found on this site. We want the best for you!

You may or may not be a candidate. Please schedule a consultation in advance to allow us to evaluate the color and condition of the skin.
I was once trained to apply a little extra color in anticipation of color loss that happens throughout the healing process. The problem with this approach is that I found that SOME people tend to hold almost all of the color... then you have an UNHAPPY CLIENT walking around.
On the other hand, by just taking the procedure to the point of BEAUTIFUL, you can walk out looking normal! The downside of this approach only happens when the color does not stay, as expected. But MOST people fall somewhere in the middle. So wouldn't you agree that of the two options, the latter conservative approach is the safest way to go?
Please remember that following our guidelines does not guarantee 100% success. Bottom line, your own body has the final word on how much color stays and how true the color heals. However, there are things we can do to help encourage better color retention. Every client will have a different outcome. Just remember that shape and color can be adjusted on subsequent sessions AFTER we see how the initial session has healed in. Then we will be able to tell what color and shape adjustments to make later.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: BY BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT WITH PERMETIKA, YOU UNDERSTAND (& AGREE) THAT IN YOUR BEST INTEREST, WE START WITH A CONSERVATIVE APPROACH, WHICH MAY MEAN INITIAL RESULTS COULD BE TOO LIGHT. ADJUSTMENTS WILL BE MADE DURING SUBSEQUENT SESSIONS UNTIL YOUR DESIRED RESULTS HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED.
Read how to set REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS with yourself.
By the time you arrive for your appointment, you should know some things, in advance.
There is a lot to remember, so please:
-
READ OVER ALL PAGES UNDER THE "RECOMMENDED READING"
-
TAKE NOTES AS YOU READ OF THE THINGS THAT PERTAIN TO YOU.
-
SET REMINDERS ON YOUR PHONE TO START TAKING ARNICA MONTANA.
-
SET REMINDERS TO ALERT YOU TO UPCOMING APPOINTMENTS
-
SET REMINDERS TO START MONITORING YOUR INTAKE OF BLOOD THINNERS, DIET, ETC.
Results are as varied as the numbers of people who want permanent makeup... What appears to be "just enough" for one person, may be barely noticeable to another. The same principle applies to flaws. Artistic abilities are as unique as there are artists... and we carry a HUGE RESPONSIBILITY to identify the particular needs of every client and relay and merge our vision, then execute our grand performance!
So then . . . we execute that Grand Performance, but the art in now - in your SKIN! Skin that is moving and churning on a microscopic scale and is going to be fighting to remove what we just put in. Add to that, all the various levels of self-care going on. Some people follow all the rules while others will break out the peroxide to scrub out thier new color. DO DO THAT! Most likely, what you're seeing is inflammation more than color!
If (at any stage of your healing process) you move into freak out mode, just remember how it looked when it was first done. Take a breath... calm down... let it heal... and we will take the next steps at your followup session.
Why you should read prior to an Appointment
When a client books an appointment at PERMETIKA, it is with the understanding that you have READ, YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE with the information that I have shared throughout this website. This information is meant to help you in forming realistic expectations, foster a great relationship and to avoid any potential misunderstandings in the future. By the time you are seated in my chair, we will have shared this information with you, in advance and on multiple levels. WHY is this so important?
For starters, learn if you're a good CANDIDATE or not.
-
Make sure your idea of pretty is the same as mine.
-
So let's PLAN OUT YOUR SESSION - TIMING GUIDELINES.
-
Know what to do to CARE FOR YOUR NEW PROCEDURE.
-
Understand that potential (not common) RISKS that are inherent with any procedure, performed by ANY artist, even me!
-
Why? There is a possibility that your skin may not respond favorably to the art placed in it.
-
Therefore, we cannot entirely predict an exact outcome, nor do we have ultimate control over your skin's reactions, should there be any reaction at all.
EACH PROCEDURE IS AN EXPERIMENT!
-
Therefore, we vow to proceed cautiously. IN TURN, WE EXPECT . . . that you consider yourself a well-informed client who understands that your procedure will NOT stay as it was initially implanted and agree with a conservative approach and are willing and ABLE to commit to more sessions as needed TO BUILD TOWARD YOUR ULTIMATE GOALS, instead of risking too much color retention.
-
REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS are paramount! PERFECT does not exist! Artistic preferences are subject to interpretation, but we will do our best to be on the same page with you!
-
Because the more you know, the better prepared you'll be.
-
People often ask if they really need to plan... Some just assume that it's not that important. We feel it's best to do everything you can, to achieve optimal results. People who have had body art know that some tattoos heal well while others need follow-ups.
-
This is even more true with Permanent Cosmetics. Our pigment is not applied as deep in the skin as a body tattoo, so we need to fight to keep what color we can!
-
So we hope you will take the time to learn about our process and spend a couple of weeks preparing for your procedure by starting & stopping certain products, eating well, and start taking the Arnica Montana as recommended, if able.
-
We feel that these steps will HELP secure a MORE successful procedure than if you don't prepare at all. However, because all skin is different, we cannot guarantee a perfect outcome, as the art we apply is in YOUR SKIN, and skin is UNPREDICTABLE.
-
The worst-case scenario would be that most of your color doesn't take.
