There's no "one size fits all" recipe that guarantees the same outcome, on everyone. And there are millions of scenarios that could affect the healed end result. To complicate things even further, your skin is even different from session to session due to changes to your diet, medical history, sun exposure and even how much coffee you had that particular day! So even in light of these "possible scenarios" and though we cannot accurately predict expected results, for EVERY client, you can still be confident in knowing that our experience and expertise spans over decades, not weeks or years.

Art vs Science

Our goal is to balance OUR ART (what goes in the skin) with the SCIENCE of YOUR BODY (that is trying to remove the art) while meeing the EXPECTATIONS that we have for OPTIMAL RESULTS! This art is implanted into SKIN at a specific depth, using multiple colors to mimic and enhance, real life features. Some of this implanted color will inevitably be kicked out, because that's what skin does. It will treat the pigment in the wound, the same exact way it would if you got a cat scratch, or any other wound really, So we have to take care to try to retain as much pigment as possible. Clients must also heed our suggestions PRIOR to a procedure and for administering proper AFTERCARE during the healing phase to help ensure excellent results. . .  Since we have no guarantee that every client will hold that color - or read, listen, take seriously, understand or even remember to comply with our suggestions - our appointments are non-refundable. Please see bulleted section below for reasons things may go wrong. It doesn't happen often, but it's a possibility.

How many sessions does it take to reach Optimal Results?

That depends on the personality and the expectations of the person...

​

• For a very LUCKY FEW, one session is enough for those whose work healed in with near perfect results.

• Some are FIVE STAR GRATEFUL . . .   just have a faint outline to follow when putting on makeup (even though we would recommend another session!!)

• Others are 1 START DISSAPOINTED if one stroke fell off.

• However, MOST PEOPLE, require two to three sessions to rock a unbelievable work of art!

• Then there are the rare FEW who are never happy. This could be attributed to:

  • Personal conflicts at home over cost or buyer's remorse. 

  • Some are suffering within themselves over psychological disorders such as body dysmorphia or trichotillomania.

  • Then there is always the rare possibility that the color didn't heal exactly right in the skin, even after multiple attempts.

​

OUR CONSERVATIVE APPROACH = PROTECTS YOUR FACE!

The image you see in the mirror, immediately following the procedure, will look pretty. Some artists work looks like puff paint due to over saturation. But because we STOP IMPLANTING COLOR just as soon as we determine that enough color has been added, to make a difference, but not so much that the end results are too dark, you can walk out feeling fairly normal.   We do this (KNOWING IN ADVANCE) that this is probably not going to be enough color to last for the long haul. once fully healed. 

​

So why not just add more color to make up for the fact that you're going to lose color? A lot of technicians do that. The reason we don't, it to protect the people who end up retaining A LOT of color... they would be in for a big surprise if we did that... so for this reason, we have adopted a conservative approach.

 

Soon after the appointment is finished . . . 

Inflammation will kick in, followed by scabbing in the days to come, causing the picture to change. Once scabbing forms, those dead skin cells darken and the body is preparing to shed them. Also take into consideration that some of the pigment is now trapped in the dead skin cells and has oxidized - causing the color to LOOK much darker at first.

 

We cannot predict up front, is just HOW MUCH color YOUR SKIN will let go of. The color changes subtly over the next few weeks due to the effect of swelling, scabbing and the thicker new skin that is covering the artwork. Once that new thicker skin thins out and returns to normal, we will be able to   until we are able to see the finished healed result which takes approximately 8-12 weeks.

We STOP implanting color as soon as the work looks beautiful.

• We already know this conservative application is not going to be enough to consider the work FINISHED! 

​

• Followup sessions are not just quick fills in the empty spots with color!

  • A followup session gives us the opportunity to layer in the next layers of ART. What this process allows, is for us to collect the following data:

  • How much color did your skin retain?

​

• Which of the two scenarios would you prefer?

​

• KNOWING that the healing process is going to cause 30-50% less color retention, 

​

• We MIGHT be able to avoid this if we applied MORE pigment during the initial session, This would most definitely mean that MOST clients would need less work in the future.​

​

• OPTIMAL RESULTS MAY TAKE A DIFFERENT AMOUNT OF TIME FOR EACH CLIENT DUE TO THE ENORMOUS DIFFERENCES IN CLIENT BIOLOGY AND PERSONAL HABITS.

​

• SOME TREATMENTS JUST TAKE BETTER ON SOME CLIENTS, AS WELL AS CERTAIN BODY PARTS MAY TAKE BETTER (or WORSE) IN SOME AREAS, THAN IN OTHERS. ​

​

• IF YOU CANNOT COMMIT TO FOLLOW UP VISITS, FOR ANY REASON, WE MAY NOT BE THE RIGHT ARTISTIC TEAM FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU MAY NOT BE HAPPY WITH A LIGHT FIRST SESSION.

Pigment IN the skin, looks different than makeup ON the skin.

We do our best to make it look as natural as possible and build toward your desired results. This requires a conservative start, (to protect those who hold more pigment than others and those who MAY experience shifts in color!) This means that MOST of you will most likely need multiple procedures. 

​

We produce beautifully balanced work, that looks natural or like well-defined makeup, yet does not resemble a tattoo.  Eyeliner that has a gradient from dark at the lashes and fades into a vapor on the edges. It does not look like a jagged line encircling your eyes. Lips that have been beautifully blushed, scars have disappeared into history, and areolas are restored following surgery - are all on the menu as well.

​

REGARDING EYELINER PROCEDURES:

• Don't wear contact lenses to your session.

• Remove Lash Extension at least 3-5 days prior to having eyeliner done to avoid extreme sensitivity to the area.

​

REGARDING LIP BLUSH PROCEDURES: 

• If you are prone to fever blisters, START TAKING YOUR ANTI-VIRAL MEDICATION PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT as directed by your physician.

​

REGARDING OLD/BAD PERMANENT MAKEUP: 

You may or may not be a candidate. Please schedule a consultation in advance to allow us to evaluate the color and condition of the skin. 

​

When consider adding something PERMANENT in your skin, especially ON YOUR FACE... it's super important to realize that there is a super fine line between just enough and too much permanent makeup.  To complicate things even further, that line is different for every person!  There are biological differences from person to person - as well as or own personal preferences! For these reasons, we start with a conservative approach to permanent makeup, especially eyebrows!

​

It's important to realize that to achieve the same results on every person is impossible. A few lucky clients heal with near-perfect results, the first time. These are the ones who are spared the dreaded stamped on looking brows or possibly even from TATTOO REMOVAL, which is painful, time-consuming, expensive, and completely avoidable with the Permetika Approach!

 

Others may retain very little pigment, requiring more sessions. Subsequent sessions will allow us to catch the color up in the areas that didn't take well on round one. 

 

Please remember, we are inserting art (in the form of pigment) into a BIOLOGICAL SYSTEM (your skin) WHERE NOTHING IS EVER CERTAIN!  Skin is a living, breathing, moving organ that is designed to protect you when a wound is created. SO, IT FIGHTS THE PROCESS... by trying to push out - what it perceives as a threat, (ie: the pigment).  SO, WE MUST FIGHT BACK... with proper nutrition, hydration, keeping the wounds clean and moisturized - in order to retain as much of the color, as possible.

Our UNIQUE STYLE starts with a LESS IS MORE APPROACH. We start with baby steps on the first session to see how our pigment heals into your skin. Adjustments, if needed are much easier to handle on a smaller scale... then we move into a more polished until reaching a final 

 

MY GOAL for YOU . . .  is to create a fabulous experience for you and perform permanent makeup procedures that will enhance your look - to the degree you are expecting - while remaining UNDETECTABLE as a tattoo! The final outcome should mimic either NATURAL LOOKING FEATURES, WELL DEFINED MAKEUP - or BOTH! The choice is yours.
 

Other situations that also factor into the picture is how well a client cared for the treated area during the healing phase.  For example: 

 

• Did you fall asleep on one brow?

• Did you rub or pick it too much? 

• Did you ice them well enough? 

• Did you keep the area clean enough?

• Did you shower too long?

• Did they get too hot?

• Did you sufficiently protect them from the sun?

• Are you on meds?

• Did you remember to take Arnica Montana?

• Did you go swimming before it healed?

• Did you use anti-aging products on them?

• Did you get a facial with steam too soon?

 

This list can go on and on. Since it is impossible to prove or disprove how well it was cared for, it is impossible to guarantee specific results.

 

I do hope this helps you to better understand why we start with a conservative approach and need you to agree to the necessary follow-up visits prior to making a decision to schedule with us.

This approach also does cost more, but we feel the confidence we offer is worth the investment as this approach gives most clients the confidence to know that they can expect great results, without looking like you just got your brows stamped on. You should also know (in advance) that specific results WILL vary from person to person and cannot be guaranteed because we all have different physical, emotional and biological arrangements as well as varying EXPECTATIONS! For this reason, some people will require less work, while others

• Permetika offers you choices in pricing by selecting various other artists. However, if you schedule with anyone other than Connie, we cannot guarantee that your desires & expectations, will align with the skill level of the artist chosen.

• Even with a good track record on PREVIOUS clients, there are always a new set of variables that present with each NEW clients.

• Different medications, habits and lifestyles, all factor into a successful outcome.  

• In addition to that, each client presents a different set of variables to consider. Each client has a different skin biology, different tones, textures and challenges. Some skin is extremely easy to work on while other skin is more difficult.

• For these reasons, always request a consultation and photos of the Artist's work PRIOR to booking an appointment to make sure your style aligns with the artist of choice.

• Your follow-up should be scheduled with the same artist, however, an alternate artist may be selected if your original artist is not available.

• FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS should be made with the same artist if possible but can be booked with another PERMETIKA ARTIST.

• Your skin is a biological system - NOT an inanimate canvas. It is designed to rid itself of foreign matter, which includes pigment.   Yes, we put that foreign matter into your skin in the form of "art" - hoping all of it will stay. But your body doesn't know that we want it there, so it's going to do its job - and try to take the color out.

• This means your healed results after the first visit, MAY end up TOO LIGHT, BLURRED & COLORS MAY SHIFT a little.  This is why we opt for a layering approach, applying a second NEW LAYER OF ART 8-12 WEEKS LATER (just where needed). Then on subsequent follow-up sessions, when necessary. 

​

• This gradual application will help move you closer to beautiful, natural-looking work at a safer pace than overdoing it upfront. Our conservative approach rarely leads to the color being too dark and you'll NEVER end up with SUPERHERO BROWS here at Permetika! 

 

• Now there is also a chance that your color could end up being close to perfect... We just never know! But you can know that you're one of the lucky few!

• CONSULTATIONS ARE NOT MANDATORY. But you can learn a lot by joining us for a consultation meeting. We offer Group meetings and private meetings as well. 
• FOR BROWS, EYELINER, AND LIP PROCEDURES, I'm confident that any questions you may have can be answered here on this site by reading the suggested links, including our VIRTUAL CHAT feature as well as our FAQ page. The main reason you might need to meet in advance is to get an allergy test if you have very sensitive skin.

• ALLERGY TESTING: 

• If you want an allergy skin test, you must schedule it a minimum of 3-5 days prior to your appointment to allow time for any potential reaction to occur. This step may help circumvent a potential allergic reaction, but is not a guarantee that a future reaction will not occur.  In all the years that we've been in business, we have not had one client present a problem. However, we know it's possible since there are documented cases of allergic reactions, they are just extremely rare.

• If you have very sensitive skin or suffer from allergic skin reactions to other products, we encourage you to schedule a complimentary test.  Better safe, than sorry!

​

CONSULTATIONS  

If you have very sensitive skin, we encourage you to schedule a consultation prior to your appointment. 

​

ARNICA MONTANA

• Arnica Montana (pill form, not cream) helps prepare the skin for less bruising, less swelling, less bleeding, and it helps speed healing. It really works!​ It should be taken (as directed on the bottle) during the two weeks prior to your procedure. Continue taking for an additional week or two following your procedure.  Arnica Montana is available on Amazon, at Whole Foods Market, and most nutrition stores. 30 c is a good strength.

BOOKING FEES & POLICIES

• Booking fees are required to reserve your place on our calendar. The fee is 50% OF the COST OF PROCEDURE. The remaining balance is not due until the day of your appointment. BOOKING FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE, however, if you have an emergency and cannot show up, please call us and we will do our best to get you set up on a better day.

​

NOTICE OF CANCELLATION: 

(See Policies & Forms Page) The amount of time required to change your appointment date is based on the idea that we want to give your fill-in client as much time to prepare as you had. Please remember, that no one else can book your spot and if you cancel, we can't easily fill it because other clients need that time to prepare. So we rely on your commitment to keeping things flowing smoothly. If you cancel at the last minute, we have no way of filling your spot or making up for lost revenue.  So we split the loss 50/50 in the form of a forfeited booking fee.

NO-SHOW APPOINTMENTS: 

(See Policies & Forms Page) No Shows will forfeit their booking fee. To rebook, you will need to schedule a new visit with a new booking fee.
