WELLNESS FORM

AN INFORMED CLIENT IS THE BEST CLIENT
Cosmetic Tattooing is a serious procedure that requires proper planning and thought. Unlike routine beauty services such as hair, nails and lashes, it is more akin to a surgical process because it involves breaking the skin. Choosing the right artist (for YOU) is critical. Look for someone with extensive training, lots of experience and a proven track record of consistent, high quality results. Also, you must consider the long term impact of the design, color and placement to ensure that is complements your natural features and ages well over time.
Take the time to do your research! Ask questions, and understand the healing process. This level of preparation ensures that you achieve results that you'll be proud of!
Booking a procedure with Permetika, means that:

  • Please remember that your skin is a biological system that is designed to rid itself of foreign matter.  We are applying a foreign matter, in the form of "art", into your "skin", Your body' job is to do its best to remove it.
  • YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE WITH OUR "LESS IS BEST" APPROACH. This means less pigment is implanted in the skin, on the first session to give us the opportunity to evaluate how the color mixes with your chemistry once healed. Then we can make adjustments and build toward your desired result over a period of a few months in subsequent perfecting sessions.
  • YOU ARE READY, WILLING & ABLE TO RETURN FOR SUBSEQUENT FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS TO COMPLETE THE WORK. AND UNDERSTAND THAT TREATMENTS ARE NOT CONSIDERED COMPLETE UNTIL WE HAVE HAD A CHANCE TO PERFORM AT LEAST 1-2 FOLLOWUP SESSIONS.

  • Don't be surprised if your work heals in too light. This is the case for some people... This means almost no one is left with work that is too dark.  Doing this allows us to get "closer to perfection" without crossing that line of regret!  And please realize, that while YOU ARE IN GREAT HANDS HERE, absolute perfection does not exist. There will always be something to work on. You just have to be realistic about your expectations and choose not to be radical in your idea of perfection. Working in SKIN can be problematic at times, and your patience is required in order to achieve optimal (not perfect) results.
  • So do the research to make SURE that you are a good fit for us. There is a lot hinging both of us when it comes to tattooing YOUR FACE.

  • FOR US: You depend on our expertise, experience, skill, and knowledge to know what works for one person, but not another.

  • YOU need to UNDERSTAND OUR UNIQUE STYLE, because we don't operate the same way as most other techs do. You can learn more about that here. Then you need to AGREE this is the style of work you prefer.
  • You also need to pay close attention to how to PLAN FOR A SESSION, and how TO CARE FOR IT while its healing, and beyond. So before booking, read over this much information on this site as you can.  Read thoroughly and take notes to help you remember the information that pertains to you. This way, you will be ready to commit to your appointment.

UNDERSTANDING OUR PROCESS TAKES TIME.
So do your research to find out what you're planning, please keep in mind that your skin is a biological system that is designed to rid itself of foreign matter.  In our case, PIGMENT IS THE FOREIGN MATTER! And we are putting it into your skin, in the form "of art". Your body does not know we want to keep it there, so it's going to do its best, to remove it. However, the body can't remove it ALL so each person is left with different results. Some people may even have a very strong immune system, which will leave less color behind. Since we all have such varying results, we opt to go with a softer, more conservative approach to avoid one of our clients ending up with too much color. This means that some people will have to have more follow-up work than other people will. Please expect to return for follow-up visits so we can perfect the work.
  • Booking any cosmetic procedure should NOT be taken lightly. All procedures require thought and planning because it is more invasive than a normal cosmetic procedure like hair, nails or lashes.
  • We strongly encourage you to read over the informational links in the footer section of this website. We want you to be sure that you are a candidate for the services we offer and understand our process.
  • We look forward to working with people who understand and agree with our LESS IS MORE approach. This means less work is done upfront to give us the opportunity to evaluate how things settle in on a small scale, then build toward your desired result over a period of a few months in subsequent perfecting sessions.
  • So don't be surprised if your work is too light. This is the case for most people...
HELP PREPARE YOUR SKIN FOR THE PROCEDURE
  • BY TAKING ARNICA MONTANA PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT.
  • Read the links on this page (and/or) in the footer section of this website for more detailed information like how to know if you're a GOOD CANDIDATE,  learning how to PLAN AHEADPRE-PROCEDURE CHECKLIST, and what to do for AFTERCARE.
  • Please remember that following our guidelines does not guarantee 100% success. Bottom line... your own body has the final word on how much color with stay and how true the color heals. However, there are things we can do to help encourage MARGINALLY better color retention. Every client will have a different outcome. Just remember that shape and color can be adjusted on subsequent sessions AFTER we see how the initial session has healed in. Then we will be able to tell what color and shape adjustments to make later.

  • WE WORK BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
    • This means our office may be not always be OPEN. When not working on clients, we may not be in the office.
    • We try to arrive AT the designated appointment, on time, but we all know we are at the mercy of traffic.  If you arrive early, we may not be at the studio yet and you may have to wait in your car until we arrive.
    • Also, to avoid unnecessary stress, we offer a 15-minute courtesy allowance before your appointment is considered to be late.
    • As soon as we see each other, the numbing process will start. This takes about 30-45 minutes to process.
    • Please DO NOT ARRIVE pre-numbed expecting to get a head start. We use the time during the numbing process to sanitize your space and assemble your tray.
  • LESS IS BEST TO START!
    • Booking your appointment at Permetika indicates that you ALSO agree, that our conservative approach is the safest way to go.
    • You understand and are committed to our philosophy of LESS IS THE BEST when tattooing your face!
    • Why? Because PEOPLE are all DIFFERENT.
      •  Some people retain a lot of pigment while others simply do not.  Our conservative approach helps to avoid potential mishaps.
      • Each artist has a different touch.
      • Therefore, SOME clients tend to hold more color than others.
      • Since there is no way to accurately predict the exact outcome - from client to client, we opt to perform conservatively!
      • So on the day of application, we take the procedure just to the point of BEAUTIFUL, (which technically, will most likely heal in too light for some people!)
      • This way, you can walk out looking great - and adjust what doesn't stay - on subsequent visits!
      • FOR OPTIMAL RESULTS... help prepare your skin for the procedure by taking ARNICA MONTANA PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT.
      • Read the links on this page (and/or) in the footer section of this website for more detailed information like how to know if you're a GOOD CANDIDATE.
      • Learn how to PLAN AHEADPRE-PROCEDURE CHECK LIST, and what to do for AFTERCARE.
      • MOST permanent makeup artists are trained to apply 30-50% extra color in anticipation of color loss that inevitably happens throughout the healing process, you can see why some people end up with disastrous results.
        • This strategy was designed to help protect your face and our reputation. Remember... Your skin is a biological system that is designed to rid itself of foreign matter. We are putting foreign matter in the form of "art" into your "skin", so your body is going to do its best to take it out.
  • YOU AGREE WITH OUR CONSERVATIVE APPROACH!
    • By booking your appointment at Permetika, indicates that you also agree, that a conservative approach is the safest way to go.
    • This means that you understand that follow-up session(s) are almost always necessary in order to SAFELY reach optimal goals.  Some people will only require ONE extra session, while others may require more work. There is nothing we can do to guarantee absolute perfection, because we are placing ART in your SKIN. Skin is an organ that takes pigment differently, from person to person.
      • YOU UNDERSTAND & AGREE THAT OUR WORK IS NOT CONSIDERED COMPLETE UNTIL SUBSEQUENT SESSIONS ARE BOOKED TO MAKE THE NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS & YOU ARE WILLING TO RETURN FOR SUBSEQUENT FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS TO COMPLETE THE WORK:
      • FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS ARE OFTEN REQUIRED TO PERFECT THE WORK.
      • FOLLOW-UP SESSIONS ARE NOT FREE... PRICES CAN BE FOUND ON OUR MENU PAGE.
  • ADJUSTMENTS ARE TO BE MADE DURING SUBSEQUENT SESSIONS UNTIL YOUR DESIRED RESULTS HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED.
  • Adjustments cannot be performed for another 8-12 weeks, so we must do what we can to complete the job, even if we are running behind.
  • We typically perform a very conservative application. One downside to a conservative approach is that color may not stay as it was applied.
    • Your initial results could be spot on if you retain a lot of pigment.
    • Or, you could end up with strokes that are far to light for people who shed a lot of pigment.
    • Some strokes could even heal as dots or appear incomplete.
    • The MAJORITY of people, fall somewhere in the middle between too light and too dark but still need some finishing touches.
    • Even at this stage, people report that this is the best thing they've ever done for themselves because they at least they now have a guide to follow that saves a lot of valuable time in constructing their brows every single day.
    • It also alleviates the fear of losing your makeup throughout the day.
    • We feel this is better and more workable than the color healing in too dark. (who wants SUPER-HERO BROWS?)
    • Also, your body may take longer to heal than another person, which increases the chance of even more color loss or damage to the area from accidental scratches, friction while sleeping, etc.
WHEN CHOOSING A PROCEDURE
You do NOT have to KNOW which style of work you need. Some people do well with Microblading, others do better with machine work... YOU DO NOT HAVE TO KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU... We will. Then we will discuss the options that we think will work best for you, your lifestyle and type of skin. We will LISTEN to your input. Once we reach a decision, the procedure will begin.
We will do everything possible to reset your appointment with no penalty should you become ill.
  • If you are able to come within a week or two (once better) we try to reset with no penalty as a courtesy to you.
  • If you are on antibiotics, you should postpone your appointment for a couple of weeks to allow the medication to leave your system.  Otherwise, there is a possibility that the treatment will not heal with optimal results. The medication is fighting to rid your body of a bug... and it may see the pigment as a potential threat, even though it's not.
APPOINTMENT TIMES
  • Please DO NOT arrive early! Appointments are set for a normal allotted amount of time, which includes setup, paperwork and sufficient numbing time.  (Since we book by appointment only, we may not arrive earlier than your appointment start time. )
  • We understand this is your face - and we want things to be as perfect as you do. So, we will allow an extra grace period of one-half hour over your allotted time to perfect the work.
    • This allows for perfecting to each client's specifications.
    • If the appointment runs longer than one hour, the appointment may be called to an end if the skin is too saturated to continue.
    • Further adjustments should be minimal and will be handled during your follow-up visit.
    • However, if time does allow us to continue, extra time will be billed at $250 per hour.
  • While we try to start and stop on time, afternoon appointments may run late.  We do respect your time and we know it's frustrating to have to wait. However, we cannot fully anticipate, nor guarantee, when the procedure prior to yours will be finished as there will be instances when a procedure or client requires more time than originally planned.
  • But don't worry, you will receive the same great treatment when it's your turn in the chair!

Be sure to read about our Policies & SUBMIT YOUR CLIENT FORMS PRIOR TO THE APPOINTMENT:

❌  What to Do, Stop or Remove

Please note the following recommendations that apply - prior to any cosmetic tattooing session.

  • ALL PROCEDURES:  Start taking ARNICA MONTANA before your procedure to help reduce the effects of possible bruising, swelling, bleeding or inflammation which ALL make procedures more difficult to perform and reduce optimal results. Best to start a week or more before any cosmetic procedure but super helpful to continue taking during the healing phase.

  • BROWS and EYELINER:  Discontinue use of any growth serums for at least a month prior to session.

  • EYES: REMOVE LASH EXTENSIONS at least 3-4 days prior to your procedure. This helps to minimize any extra sensitivity during the treatment. Rubbing the delicate skin of the eyelids can cause micro abrasions, which may lead to increased discomfort. Ensure to follow this guideline for a more pleasant experience.

  • EYES: REMOVE CONTACT LENSES. Bring your glasses to the appointment so you can see to drive home. For best results, do not reapply lenses until fully healed.

  • LIPS: COLD SORES or FEVER BLISTERS may break out if you don't prepare in advance! Ask your doctor for a prescription for an anti-viral medication to help minimize the risk. Take prior to, during and following your lip procedure. Taking 1,000 mg of Lysine per day also helps, but for best results, ask your doctor.

Ever had a cold sore?

You’ll need a prescription antiviral. Start meds before and after your appointment.

Especially when it comes to eyebrows as they are the most important feature on the face. They instantly set the tone of  the face and bring an immediate, positive (or negative) impact to any face.  Poorly shaped or colored brow can wreck even the most beautiful of features.

Almost everyone wants NATURAL looking brows... but some don't realize that "perfect" brows do not look NATURAL. The empty spaces that seem too apparent in a 10x Magnification mirror, look NORMAL at a distance. Not every empty space should be filled in.  When done properly, this negative space is what makes the brows look believable, not stamped on!  You just have to resist the urge to fill every open spot! On the other hand, those open spots should not create an obvious gap either. Brows should flow like a soft river.

  • We always aim to create REALISTIC looking brows here ...  When brows are TOO perfectly marked off and measured, the brows can take on an unrealistic look We want them to be super sexy and exciting. Not RIGID & MECHANICAL SUPERHERO BROWS! You don't want your brows to walk in before you do. What's important, is the fine artistic detail, that will bring your face to life!

  • During your session, I will explain what I'm doing and ask for your feedback along the way. This will ensure that you are happy with both the contour and colors we have blended. The treatment will then begin and will take 1-3 hours, depending on the complexity of the procedure.

Microblading & Microshading has definitely taken the world by storm.

These soft, realistic looking strokes help to create the illusion of beautiful full brows by replacing a few missing strokes or simulating an entire brow! This is an awesome service for people suffering from any kind of brow hair loss. These strokes look so real, they can even fool the clients using a 10x magnifying mirror!

Whether you call it BROW MICROBLADING, MICRO STROKING, 3D BROWS, FEATHERED BROWS, etc... you should know that all of these techniques are still a form of cosmetic tattooing.  We try to duplicate the appearance of very natural looking brows by delicately depositing pigment into the superficial layer of the dermis. We use a hand tool with an extremely fine grouping of needles, much like a calligraphy pen. Our unique technique does not look like the cookie cutter style of perfectly traced lines. Our strokes can fool even the most discriminating eye.

REALITY CHECK

I wish the terms "permanent" and "semi-permanent" didn't exist. Both are misleading.  We call it permanent because it does not wash off. We call it semi-permanent, because it fades. But if someone tells you that it lasts forever or for only 18 months, BOTH CAN BE TRUE - AND BOTH CAN BE MISLEADING.  It all depends on the chemistry of your body and the relationship with your artist!  There is no magic date that your new brows are programmed to disappear.

BE CAREFUL WHO YOU TRUST.

If you will seek out SEASONED PROFESSIONALS who have completed comprehensive training, have years of successful procedures behind them, and who thoroughly understand this complex process - you will GREATLY minimize your risk of unhappiness!  It is also essential to check that the technicians carry the appropriate licenses. In the right hands, it can be a positively life changing experience. In the wrong hands, you might be spending a lot of money and time undoing an unfortunate decision.

Artistry in this field is largely unregulated in many states. And there are so many classes being formed by self proclaimed "masters" - it's mind boggling! ANYONE can pass out a certificate granting newbies virtual confidence.... The truth is, there is no way to learn this craft in 2-3 days. Even if an artist does beautiful work, you better watch for cross-contamination disasters. It's not easy to get in the habit of using aseptic techniques. And CLIENTS ARE EVEN LESS AWARE... My question to everyone is this:  What good are new brows, if you're now battling Hepatitis? It's take an acute awareness that extends far beyond sterile needles and single use disposables & disinfected skin prior to the service. . .   All it takes is one slip up to contaminate the next client.

PAIN CONTROL

Even though we use a numbing agent of 4% Lidocaine, there may be some discomfort associated with the procedure. This discomfort normally rates on a scale from 0-4 out of 10, pain level. Everyone is different, but we do our best to maintain your comfort level through distraction techniques and breaks if you need them. Microblading rarely produces serious complications

And along with any tattooing the skin, may come some associated risks such as the transmission of Blood Borne Pathogenic Organisms, such at Hepatitis and HIV. Allergic reactions to the pigments and or ointments are also a possibility, but are very unlikely.
