Again, thank you for trusting Permetika!

FOR STARTERS, with me, you can expect superior work.

  • I am an artist. I've received extensive training in art school prior to my career in cosmetic tattooing. My training covered subjects such as calligraphy, color composition, and portrait painting which has lent itself beautifully to my career.

  • I have consistently created beautiful work since 2002.
    • I was also into photography and makeup... my eye for detail and artistic skills earned an opportunity for me to photograph contestants in a beauty pageant and I did makeup for The HOUSTON ROCKETS CHEELEADERS.
    • My training in art, was not intended to  is what propelled my career in PMU.

In the past, the only people who would have considered doing permanent makeup as a career (I think), would have been those who (like me) were confident enough in their natural skills to take on the job.

THEN 2015 happened. . . There came a FLOOD of trainers who preyed on the people with claims of riches and fame! And this offer was just too much for many people to resist. Suddenly it was like THE CALIFORNIA GOLD RUSH...  EVERYONE wanted to become a Microblading Tech, because they saw it as a very lucrative career.

And it can be... But no one was mentioning how difficult is was to master. Microblading was touted as a brand new method of implanting pigment into the skin, which involved using a handheld tool with tiny needles to create hair-like strokes - AND - it would vanish in about 18 months.

SOUNDS GREAT! But what people did not understand (at the time) was that  microblading was still - a form of tattooing . . . and this "BRAND NEW METHOD" was still 100% dependent upon the knowledge and artistic skill of the artist (or technician).

By definition: A TATTOO means to mark (a person or a part of thier body) with an indelible design by inserting pigment into punctures in the skin. It is essentially, a scar with color.

Therefore, it involves the same process of depositing ink into the skin, albeit with a different TOOL. Which IN THE RIGHT HANDS, would could result in more natural-looking effect."

In THE WRONG HANDS, the disasters were the same as before.

I don't blame the ones who are truly artistically inclined - to be encouraged by this new opportuntiy. They are the ones WHO SHOULD pursue a career like this. But those who had zero artistic skills, had no business dabbling in a career that halds the potential to cause so much devastation to unknowing clients.. (like the MANY who I have had the honor to help correct).

I think many of the people who got the raw end of the deal . . .  saw most all technicians - as having equal talent - and chose based on price alone.  (As if there was some TEST administered by SOME GOVERNMENT AUTHORTITY  that deemed us all as having EQUAL ABILITIES... NOT!  Would it surprise you to know, that NO ONE HOLDS a license in this field? Nope!  . . . not even me!  BY LAW... It's the building that is licensed. In my OPINION, this is designed so the Inspectors know where to go. By licensing just a person, how would they control a specific set of sanitation and sterilzation techniques?  THERE ARE ZERO LAWS GOVERNING THE ARTISTIC ABILITY OF THE PROVIDER!  To me, this is something that should be added to law. For it not to be... is insane.  SO BUYER BEWARE.

  • TODAY, most clients have become more discerning and cautious when it comes to choosing technicians and don't fall for the hype on every slick website.
  • Many low-quality service providers have disappeared, but some still remain in business due to their low prices because:
    • Making $100 an hour is still better than minimum wage - and they have no conscience so they don't care as much about the outcome, as they do turning a profit.
    • They don't need return business, because there will ALWAYS be certain people, looking for THE BEST PRICE, instead of  THE BEST WORK.
    • They are still competing with rock bottom prices to lure that person who doesn't yet realize the truth... that you get what you pay for.

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO SAY...

  • LIE:  MICROBLADING is different than traditional Permanent Makeup  and will fade off in 18 months...
    • THAT IS A LIE - which was designed to TRICK YOU into thinking this is something BRAND NEW doing permanent makeup - JUST UNDER A NEW NAME . .

  • TRUTH: Microblading IS a different METHOD OF DELIVERING PIGMENT INTO THE SKIN. The result of this new method MAY appear somewhat different  (depending on the technicians skill) BUT THE LIE IS THAT - IT IS STILL A TATTOO - that will never fade as they projected.

Back in 2015, when the MICROBLADING CRAZE blew up... I tried to warn everyone when these new techs came out saying that... THERE IS NO SUCH PIGMENT DESIGNED TO JUST VANISH at a certain point in time.  And I don't blame the techs, or even some of the trainers.. They were only sharing information that they were taught by someone else. They just lacked the real life experience that I (and others with some tenure in the business) had. Well, now - everyone knows the truth.

I DO NOT LIKE TRICKS... I would much rather a person DECLINE a procedure if you don't agree with THE TRUTH.  That decision saves us both a lot of grief.

 AND THE TRUTH IS . . .

  • Pigment   (to some degree) will remain in the skin forever - so you better make the right choices.
    1. Pick the right artist!
    2. Choose a NATURAL look!
    3. Never go TOO BOLD!

  • Even when performed CORRECTLY, it still needs maintenance over time, if you want it to stay looking fresh....

  • I recommend an ANNUAL REFRESH... Once the year is up, you can book a followup ($400). If at the end of that year, if you feel that things still look good, you can extend the appointment out ANOTHER ENTIRE YEAR... By booking before the year is up - THEN SCHEDULING OUR FOR ANOTHER YEAR.
  • This is like getting two years for the price of one.
  • HOWEVER, IF YOU SKIP THIS STEP, AND TRY TO BOOK A FEW YEARS LATER, THE PRICE WILL HAVE MORE THAN DOUBLED TO:
    • Semi-Annual Color Boost . . . . $950 (between 1-2 years).
    • Tri-Annual Start Over . . . . . . . . $1400  (over 2  years).

On the flip side... permanent makeup is called permanent because you cannot wash it off, but it will be in your skin FOREVER... YES, OVER TIME, IT WILL FADE.  However, some people will loose color faster than others.

It also depends on the pressure applied by each individual artist (or technician). Each person has a different touch. Someone who truly cares, and is new, and afraid, may use a touch that is TOO LIGHT and that will fade off completely IF it's not deep enough in the skin.

Let's say you find a TRADITIONAL TATTOO ARTIST who is NEW to cosmetic tattooing.... even if they do GREAT TATTOOS, their touch to the face may be TOO MUCH to look NATURAL...

Your best bet, is to trust AN ARTIST... WHO HAS YEARS OF EXPERIENCE and consistently produces excellent work. That person, is me! Not only do I do great work, I also care a great deal.

Knowing all this... I would like to encourage you to visit
Permetika.com/checklist  for a complete list of tips on how to plan for your upcoming procedure - and beyond!

**Eyebrow Procedures:**
Alright, you brow enthusiasts... We recommend hitting the pause button on Latisse and other brow serums for at least a month before your treatment. And let’s be honest—there's absolutely no need to stress about shaping your brows beforehand. We love them just as they are, wild and free, so come as you are! After all, that helps us show off our best work!

**Eyeliner Procedures:**
And before you get your eyeliner game on, we kindly ask that you say goodbye to those lash growth serums for about a month. And those fabulous lash extensions? Try to have them removed about a week or so prior to your appointment. This little break gives your eyelids a chance to relax and get ready the tattooing magic!

**Lip Procedures:** Now, if you happen to battle cold sores or fever blisters, we’ve got a little homework for you! Please make sure to grab your doctor and get prescription for an antiviral medication before you dive into that lip tattoo adventure. Most clients find that they need 2-3 sessions to really lock in that gorgeous color (thanks to all that lip action).

**Pre-Medication:** Finally, a friendly reminder for all you wellness warriors out there: if you ever need to take antibiotics before routine dental work or any other medical procedure, you’re going to want to do the same for this beauty treatment. It’s all about keeping things safe and sound!

  • NEVER DISCONTINUE ANY MEDICATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN PRESCRIBED BY YOUR DOCTOR WITHOUT CONSULTING WITH YOUR DOCTOR, FIRST!

  • ABOUT LIP PROCEDURES:
    • If you are prone to Cold Sores or Fever Blisters, you must obtain a prescription for an anti-viral prescription prior to a lip tattoo.
    • Lips may saturate well on the first session, however MOST people need 2-3 sessions, sometimes more, to retain the amount of color desired. The reason is lips are very ACTIVE. Lots of licking, wiping, talking... it's a wonder that ANY color stays.
    • PRE-MEDICATION? If you have to take antibiotics prior to routine dental work, OR ANY OTHER MEDICAL PROCEDURE, you'll need to do the same for our treatments.
    • Know when to start and stop taking certain foods and supplements.
