WHO'S NOT A CANDIDATE?

IF YOU ANSWER YES TO ANY OF THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS...

You may not be a good candidate for treatment at this time until the condition is resolved OR your doctor clears you for treatment. If unsure about anything, you may ask your physician about your particular situation.

* IMPORTANT  INFORMATION ABOUT ALLERGY TESTING:

Since 2002, I have NEVER had a client present a true allergic reaction to any of the procedures I've done. However, this may just be good luck, because I have seen some bad reactions online, it's just extremely rare. And even if you get a negative result, you could still develop a reaction to the pigment at any point in the future. Testing is offered just in case we can catch it on a small test spot, prior to implanting a whole procedure. So, IF YOU HAVE SENSTIVE OR REATIVE SKIN, you may want to schedule an ALLERGY SKIN TEST with us at least ONE WEEK prior to an appointment. The test is FREE OF CHARGE, AND CAN BE SCHEDULED ONLINE.   If you're from out of town, we can mail you one.

  • If you are PREGNANT, HARVESTING EGGS, OR TRYING TO GET PREGNANT, you are not a candidate for permanent makeup at this time. Although there has been no scientific proof or any medical evidence that tattooing would have any effect on an unborn child, we don't know for sure. So, we err on the side of caution. You must wait until after the baby is born and you are no longer nursing.

  • If you are BREASTFEEDING an infant, you must pump and dump to make sure to protect the baby's breast milk that may contain anesthetics.

  • For FLASHBACK SKIN TIGHTENING or FLASHBACK SKIN CORRECTOR TREATMENTS - You may not be the best candidate if you answer yes to the following questions:

    • Have you ever been diagnosed with Steven Johnson Syndrome?

      • If so, the wounds may take a very long time to heal and return to a normal color.

    • Have you ever had an allergic response (or any bad reaction) to a medication or other substance?

      • Please bring this topic up for discussion prior to any treatment and ask for a test spot to be performed.

    • Are you an extremely slow healer?

      • If so, the red spots could take months to vanish altogether.

    • Do you have darker skin?

      • People with more melanin may experience more hyperpigmentation issues. Please request a skin test prior to booking!

  • If you are  UNDER 18 YEARS OLD, by state law, we cannot apply any form of tattooing.

  • If you have UNcontrolled DIABETES.

  • Are undergoing any form of treatment for CANCER.

  • Have SKIN ERUPTIONS in the immediate area of treatment.

  • Have a COLD, FEVER, OR ANY CONTAGIOUS ILLNESS. Must reschedule your appointment to a later date.

  • If you have had SHINGLES, please provide a clearance letter from your doctor in order to proceed with any PMU Procedure.

  • If you are undergoing ACTIVE CHEMO, you are not a candidate. Procedures should be completed and healed by the time chemo is administered.

  • If you are INSULIN DEPENDENT, you are also not a candidate for permanent makeup.

  • If you are ON ACCUTANE, you are not a candidate until you've been off the medication for at least one year. Multiple sessions are to be expected as the skin is thinner than normal skin.

  • Applying RETINOL, RETINOIDS, or any ANTI-AGING products, you should refrain from PMU for a month prior to or a month following a procedure.

  • If you have GLAUCOMA, you are not a candidate for the eyeliner procedure.

  • Have you ever had a bad reaction (or allergic response) to any medication which caused a rash or condition such as Steven Johnson Syndrome?

  • If you are a person that has the tendency to develop KEYLOID or HYPERTROPHIC SCARRING keep in mind that you have the same potential risk with tattooing.  We have never witnessed any keloid-type scarring occur on the face, but it's always a possibility, so a patch test may be in order.

  • If you have had a RECENT EYE SURGERY you need to wait at least 6 months before you can be a candidate for the eyeliner procedure.

  • People who get FEVER BLISTERS or COLD SORES  are prone to an outbreak after lip procedures. Please consult with your doctor prior to having any lip procedure done as there are medications that can be taken before and after as an aid to prevent an outbreak post-procedure. However, this cannot be guaranteed and you make likely to lose pigment in the areas that the blister(s) or sore(s) occur.

  • SCARS from surgery or an injury MUST HAVE BEEN HEALED FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR prior to scar camouflage. BEST results come from scars that are LIGHTER than the surrounding skin. We cannot work on scars that are red, purple, or brown with cosmetic tattooing. Darker scars are better treated with Laser, Radio Frequency, Skin Resurfacing, etc. For more info on treating darker or hyperpigmented scars, contact Dr. Victoria Zavala at 713-628-4987.

  • If you have an “active” auto-immune disorder, check with your doctor to see if you are a candidate or just possibly need to wait until you are in remission.

  • You will need to wait 1 month after a Permanent Lip Procedure to get BOTOX around the mouth.

  • Dermal Lip Fillers increase the chance of color migration (color traveling under the skin).

  • People with anxiety disorders (such as trichotillomania) or who are prone to picking, should think twice about having a procedure. If you pick at the skin, we can tell. If you pick at the skin, your results will look blotchy. If you have pulled your brows or lashes out repeatedly, the skin underneath is affected to a degree, that may cause a moderate to complete loss of color retention.  With that said, if you have NO BROWS AT ALL, some people feel that even a little bit of lingering color is enough to help when applying makeup - at least you don't have to TOTALLY recreate the wheel, every single day.... just some food for thought.

  •  IN MOST CASES, OLD PERMANENT MAKEUP SHOULD BE REDUCED, PRIOR TO HAVING A NEW PROCEDURE.   TOTAL REMOVAL IS ONLY NECESSARY IN EXTREME CASES.  IF YOU HAVE OLD, FADED, POORLY SHAPED, ODDLY COLORED PERMANENT MAKEUP, YOU MUST SEND PHOTOS TO 713-443-8999 TO BE CONSIDERED AS A POTENTIAL CLIENT, PRIOR TO BOOKING!  IF YOU SHOW UP WITH PERMANENT MAKEUP THAT WE CANNOT REPAIR, WE HAVE NO CHOICE OTHER THAN TO RESET YOUR APPOINTMENT FOR A FUTURE DATE AFTER THE PMU HAS BEEN REMOVED. YOUR BOOKING FEE WILL BE FORFEITED & YOU WILL NEED TO PAY A NEW BOOKING FEE TO SCHEDULE YOUR NEXT APPOINTMENT.  SO PLEASE THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS & THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING!

  • SOME COLOR ISSUES CAN BE COLOR CORRECTED, BUT LET US BE THE JUDGE OF THAT.  IF WE CAN WORK WITH YOU WE WILL!  IF WE DO DECIDE TO WORK WITH YOU, YOU MUST BE PREPARED FOR MORE PROCEDURES THAN NORMAL. AND YOU MUST BE MENTALLY PREPARED TO HANDLE THE INTERIM CHANGES AS YOUR PERMANENT MAKEUP IS BEING CORRECTED.  WE CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE, BUT IT DOES TAKE TIME IF YOU ARE READY TO TAKE ON THIS COMMITMENT.

  • IF YOU ALREADY KNOW YOU HAVE REALLY BAD WORK, PLEASE CALL OUR OFFICE FOR A DOCTOR'S REFERRAL - AS IT IS NO LONGER LEGAL IN THE STATE OF TEXAS FOR TATTOO ARTISTS TO REMOVE COLOR.  UNFORTUNATELY WILL NOT BE WILLING TO ADOPT THAT WORK. AS SOON AS WE PUT A MARK ON IT, IT'S NOW OUR PROBLEM. AND WHEN THE RISK OUTWEIGHS THE BENEFIT TO EITHER OF US, WE ARE VERY SORRY, BUT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PERFORM WORK ON YOU, SINCE THE RISK OF YOU NOT BEING SATISFIED IS FAR TOO GREAT.  KEEP IN MIND, THAT THE MORE TRAUMA THAT IS CAUSED TO THE SKIN OVER TIME, THE GREATER THE CHANCE OF POOR COLOR RETENTION. SOME THINGS WE CAN HELP, BUT WE CANNOT CONTROL EVERY OUTCOME, AND GUARANTEES OF SUCCESS CANNOT BE MADE.

BOTOX, DYSPORT or XEOMIN, FILLER USERS...

  • Please know that any toxin or filler could alter (either minorly or majorly) the symmetry of your permanent brow work!

    • Example: If you get your brows tattooed right after injections, that could adversely affect the injectors work as well as the symmetry of your permanent brow placement. This can be corrected on subsequent sessions, but it's better to coordinate your beauty treatments accordingly as follows:

      • IDEALLY, we should plan your permanent brow procedure when they are in their "MOST NORMAL"  state.  Let them heal fully, THEN get your injections after you know that our placement held well and youre happy with OUR work.

      • If you do Botox (or any toxin, every 3-4 months) the NEXT best time to do a permanent brow procedure is 2 months prior to your next Botox appointment. Once the toxin wears off, your brows may change position a little. To what degree, we do not know, so any adjustments can be made during the follow-up sessions.

      • If you normally have Botox once a year for the Holidays, then the best time to do a brow procedure would be AFTER the toxin has worn off and about 2-3 weeks PRIOR to your next scheduled injection appointment.

  • IF YOU ARE NOT AN ORIGINAL PERMETIKA CLIENT, and want us to do your next session (or help correct previous work) YOU MUST PROCEED by booking a NEW or CORRETIVE PROCEDURE WITH PERMETIKA. Please do not schedule a FOLLOWUP, COLOR BOOST or STARTOVER.

  • IF CORRECTIVE WORK IS REQUIRED, you should TEXT us photos to 713-443-8999. We will let you know if the area is workable.  If not, we will recommend that you get at least one (1) laser removal session(s) prior to getting new work. MORE SESSIONS COULD BE NECESSARY, BUT COMPLETE REMOVAL IS PROBABLY NOT NECESSARY - IF - the previous work is not too large of an area.
